A Wheelastrophe

I sped along the city streets,
     Upon my silent steed;
I rang my bell with long repeats,
     But people paid no heed.

I’m older now, the dire event,
     I cannot well recall;
But when I’m out on byking “bent”,–
     I heed now lest I fall.
