Don’t
b’lieve a pesky thing you hear,
Don’t believe but hl you see;
Don’t
plan ahead for morin a year,
Don’t ask folks in to tea.
Don’t
tread upon your neighbor’s toes,
Don’t ask for any loan;
Don’t
share too much in people’s woes,
Don’t let them share your own.
Don’t
slap a fellow on his back
When you intend his face;
Don’t
ever b’lieve that white is black,
Don’t bet on any race.
Don’t
tell a lie whate’er it o’er,
Don’t if you know you’ll bust;
You’ll
have to tell a dozen more
To cover up the fust.
Don’t
think that all but you are fools,
Don’t rake your neighbors so;
Don’t
fail to carry back the tools
You borrowed long ago.
Don’t
try to cheat your editor,
Don’t multiply his trials;
And
that great goal you’re seeking for
Will welcome you with smiles.
