Behold,
in yonder window see
The
fair and blushing bride to be.
She
peers down through the blackened night
And
softly whispers, “Is all right?”
Alphonso
in the yard below
Prepares
his coil of rope to throw.
When
all is fast, in tones of glee
He
calls, “Com’ Edie, Com’ Edie.”
Papa
(old bear) swoops on the pair,
No
supe or half-way actor he;
He
roareth out, “Begone thou lout! (thunders)
I’ll
finish up this Com’ Edie.”
