A Two Year’s Courtship

                 He

“Though all the world be cold and dark.
     Though days were long and nights were drear,
Though your papa should throw me down,
     I’d worship you the same my dear.”
And then he kissed her once again
     The very happiest of men.

                 She

“Papa gave me this note for you,
     It said it would your true love test;
If you agree to what it says
     It’s up to us to do the rest.”
He read, then feinted at her feet –
     It was a bill for gas and heat.
