Sonnet On “Where is Spring?”

                                              By the Office Boy

If gentle spring is ever going to come
I wish ‘twould hump along right soon for I
Don’t like to go and get a new supply
Of flannels, but I’ll have to buy the same,
Since them I wear would skurcely hold the name.
And then, besides I’ve got a summer suit
Which, ev’ryone who’s seen it calls a “beaut”,
I’d like to wear and get right in the game.

And then I asked the boss if I could go
Today and see a league game if I got
My work done up at two right on the dot.
He laughed and said spring hasn’t had no show,
Don’t worry till she comes about the game,
And that is why I wish that she would came.
