The Open Car

Oh spring is fair
     As fair can be;
It lifts a care
     For you and me.
One laughs, and sings
     A lively bar;
You see it brings
     The open car.

One has the mood
     To land a string,
It feels so good
     Because it’s spring.
Another sings
Its praises far
Because it brings
     The motor car.

Oh spring would be
A sorry plight
Were only tree
     And bloom in sight.
‘Twould not be spring,
     Glad spring by far,
Did it not bring
     The open car!

The open car,
     The smoke and rest;
The things that are
     By far the best.
The beach, the host
     The rides afar;
All hail, and toast
     The open car!
