Overhauling rod and tackle

     Seven dollars to a cent;

Pair of rubber boots for wading

     That is where six dollars went.

Bran’ new hooks and lines and leaders,

     And a reel, more up to date

Brings the bill, before he started,

     To exactly thirty eight.

Round-trip ticket four-fifty,

     “Bait”, two-dollars (this “qt.”)

Team and driver from the station

     To the brook and back, a “V”.

Six or seven hours of fishing,

     Buy and string another “one”;

Costly fish, but then consider:

     Fifty dollars worth of fun!
