Nay,
years of effort could not tell,
Of
all the wondrous light that fell
Within
my narrow, earthly cell,
When I first found my savior.
A
brighter world sped to my view,
A
nobler people, good and true,
A
nobler work for me to do,
When I first found my savior.
I
was adrift upon a sea
Of
storm and doubt and misery;
I
had no star to pilot me,
Before I found my savior.
But
now, O now, how bright the day!
No
darkness fills my soul today;
My
life illumed by Heaven’s ray,
Since I have found my savior.
