The book review in the issue of
Dec. 16, after quoting at some length some of the dialect conversation from a
copy of “The Waybackers”, by Joe Cone, asks “Why does the author leave the ‘d’
at the end of one of his ‘ands’? We pause confidently for a reply.”
The answer is this: the typewriter
put it in and the proof reader failed to take it out.
