O,
why are freight cars painted red,
And why are blue skies blue?
And
why do horses have four legs,
And people only two?
And
why are pies baked circular
While bread is fashioned square?
And
why are women’s faces smooth
While men’s are thick with hair?
And
why is grass forever green,
And water always wet?
And
why do chickens always roost
As high as they can get?
And
why do dogs bark at the moon,
And why do roosters crow?
And
why do poets write like this?
I’d really like to know?
