Where is the bright new painted toy

     Which Johnnie got on Christmas morn?

It’s in the battered ash can now,

     With its inside workings gone.

O’ yes, he liked the toy right well,

     But he was not quite satisfied

Until he took the axe to see

     Just how the thing was built inside.
