Plain Fishin’

Spearin’ eels on “Lizzard Crick”
     Ain’t real scientific;
‘But they burrow there so thick
     Thet it’s most prolific.
Spearin’ with  limber pole
     Ain’t no fancy gearin’;
But it thrills my very soul
     When I go a-spearin’!

High-grade anglers who go out,
     With their chests expanded,
After salmon, bass or trout
     Come back empty handed.
Spearin’ eels is ruthur rough –
     “Anglin’” may sound louder –
But I allus git enough
     Fur a fry an’ chowder.
