The Job

Whatever job you’re holding down
     Be on the job.
Be called a hustler in your town,
     Be on the job.
If you’re a helper down below
If you’re the middle man you know,
Or if you are the whole blamed show
     Be on the job.

If you are out upon the road
     Be on the job;
Keep moving round and show your load,
     Be on the job.
Although the trade may quiet seem,
Don’t sit around and idly dream
While other fellows skim the cream,
     Be on the job.

If you can save a bone or two,
     Be on the job;
It is the only thing to do,
     Be on the job.
Be on the job, right up to key,
And this applies to you and me,
We may not always have ‘em, see?
     Be on the job.
