Pa As A Tanner

I read a funny ad in our

     Farm paper ‘tother day,

From some concern what handles furs,

     Which started off this way:

“Attention! Let Us Tan Your Hide!”

     In big, black letters, too;

Now if you were a boy like me

     How would that look to you?

I don’t see how they get replies

     From funny ads like that;

I wouldn’t want to send to them,

     I’d be too mortal scat.

Besides I get it here to home,

     Sometimes it’s pretty rough;

If there’s a hide to tan I guess

     Pa does it well enough!
