Santa’s Choice

Old Santa Claus, upon his rounds,
     Came down the sooty flue;
With thought and care he studied there
     The stockings hung in view.

Embroidered ones and open-work
     And plain ones met his eye;
He filled the kind like mother wore,
     The fancy ones passed by.
