Going Up

Amundsen’s going to harness bears

     To draw him to the pole;

This is a throwdown for the dog,

     Poor man-befriending soul!

Why Cap’n Amundsen chooses bears

     Can’t fathom, I declare,

Unless to have them climb the pole

     And spike the colors there.
