From the Country Editor

FROM THE COUNTRY EDITOR

The world is growing better, no matter what they say; the world is growing better, and it’s growing every day; and if you want the proof of it gaze on our happy tears: An old subscriber’s just been in and paid up his arrears!

This is a land of plenty, no matter what they say; this is the land of freedom and we’re all a-feeling gay. We are shouting hallelujah to the countless other spheres – An old subscriber’s just been in and paid up his arrears!

c. Jan. 21, 1904

The title and first stanza were cut and pasted in published form.

The entire lyric was redone on Dec. 18, 1909 as ‘Shouting Time’ and published in verse form within the ‘Jocosities’ column (B. Herald) on Dec. 20, 1909. It can be found here under the Dec. 18 date.
