Dear Editor, I’d like to do

  Work for your magazine;

I write in verse to show you that

  In such I am not green.

I can do stories just as well,

  In fact, most anything;

If you would like to try me on

  Just let me know the string.

Dear sir, you say you’d like to work

  Upon our magazine?

Please hustle out and get me “subs”,

  ‘Twill help us most, I ween.

Enclosed find blanks (which are for prose),

  Don’t worry o’er the verse;

I answer you in rhyme to show

  You I am not so worse.
