The
summer girl is with us now,
We’re mighty glad she’s near us;
Although
we know, as maidens go,
She’ll do her best to queer us.
The
balls in the city are things of the past
In hot weather they all are called off;
In
the country the balls are now holding full sway,
Say tennis and croquet and golf.
Now
doth the busy bumble bee
Improve his airy wing
By
buzzing round the flower beds
To see whim he can sting.
Old
King Coal was a merry old soul
Because he was scarce and dear;
But
old King Ice feels twice as nice
For he beats King Coal this year,
