I
A
barefoot boy,
A white birch pole;
A
can of worms
A swimmin’ hole.
A
baited hook,
A tug and swish;
A
steady haul,
A string of fish.
II
A
white duck suit,
A canvas boat;
A
costly rod
A patent float.
A
gaudy fly,
A cast and swish;
A
pretty sight,
But nary fish!
