There
was once a young maiden named Anna
Whose
full name was Anna U. Tanner;
She was quite a bad child
And her mother grew wild
And
handed her o’er to Aunt Hannah.
Aunt
Hannah soon tired of her manner,
And
brought back the meddlesome Anna;
The mother cried, “what
Shall I do with the tot?”
And
the father said, “Anna? You tan ‘er!”
