A Holiday Query

How is it thro’ the autumn days
     The country papers dwell
Upon the fine tobacco crop,
     And leaf so very swell?

Yet soon the Christmas sheets are crammed,
(This is the thing that jars)
With pictures, poems, squibs and jokes
     Of very rank cigars.
