Ah,
many a weary mile
I’ve rode old Pegasus,
And
many a dusty stretch
And hill have come to us.
Sometimes
he has borne his load
With fortitude and pride;
But
many a time he’s bolted,
Many a time he’s shied.
Yea,
more, he has reared aloft,
And, with a sudden hitch,
In
a truly broncko style,
Has hurled me in the ditch.
But
I’ve caught the rein each time,
And flung myself astride,
And
still adown the long road
Old Pegasus I ride!
