When
you are strolling through the town,
Don’t
turn your head;
Lest
some big fellow runs you down,
Don’t
turn your head.
Cho. Don’t turn your head whate’er you do,
Don’t turn your mammoth head;
There’s always folks
For springing jokes
If e’er one turns his head.
II.
When
ladies trip across the street,
Don’t turn your head;
Lest
you might see some pretty feet,
Don’t turn your head.
Cho. Don’t turn your head whate’er you do,
Don’t turn your silly head;
There’s always folks
For springing jokes
On men who turn their head.
III.
“Some
horrid man,” the ladies say,
“Will turn his head;
Will
boldly stare as we pass by,
Will turn his head.”
Cho. Don’t turn your head whate’er you do,
Don’t turn you “horrid head”;
These women folks
Can take no jokes
So never turn your head.
IV.
Now
ladies when you’re out again,
Don’t turn your head;
Then
you won’t see those horrid men –
Don’t turn your head.
Cho. Don’t turn your head whate’er you do,
Don’t turn your pretty head;
These bold men folks
Will make big jokes
If e’er you turn your head.
V.
Young
girls when on the street I say,
Don’t turn your head;
Lest
some sly chap looks round this way –
Don’t turn your head.
Cho. Don’t turn your head whate’er you do,
Don’t turn your giddy head;
These young men folks
Will send off jokes
If e’er you turn your head.
VI.
Now
all think well upon this fact:
Don’t turn your head;
Unless
it’s for some kindly act,
Don’t turn your head.
Cho. Yes turn your head right where you are,
Just turn your precious head;
For there’s no folks
Who make up jokes
When kindness turns your head.
