Reunion Of The Book Family

A grand reunion has been held
     Of the book familee;
And many “children” newly born,
     Were there, as you may see.
‘Twas given o’er “On Satan’s Mount”,
     “At the Appointed Time”,
By “Lady Rose’s Daughter fair,
     “The One Woman” sublime.

“Prince Hagen” made “A Few Remarks”,
     And “Wee MacGreegor” sang;
While “Mr. Dooley” made a hit
     With “Ade’s Fables in Slang”.
“The Spoilsmen” and the “Splenders” came
     Afoot, on “Horses Nine”;
And “Zut”, The Man Who Was”, brought in
     “The Red Shirts” from the line.

“Count Zarka” drove “The Under Dog”
     From out “The Other Room”,
And shut him in “The Pine Tree House”
     Until “The Crack of Soom”.
“Unwelcome Mrs. Hatch” appeared
     With Lovely Mary soon;
“The Captain’s Wife” and “Mr. Salt”
     Came in on a “Typhoon”.

“The Silent Maid” had naught to say,
     Except “If I Were King”
“I’d just drop one ‘Man Overboard’
     And to ‘The Hermit’ cling.”
“The Prince of Sinners”, “Gordon Keith”,
     Came with “Peggy O’Neal”;
But “Felix” sent “His Daughter First”,
     “The Gray Cloak” to conceal.

Then “Mr. Claghorn’s Daughter” rose,
     (“Under the Rose” was she)
And turned “The Pigs in Clover” out,
     “The Golden Fleece” to see.
Then by the light of “The Blue Moon”
     She found the “Land of Joy”,
And wrote each “Simple Life” within
     “The Log of a Cowboy”.

Then “Ethel” of “The Joyous Heart”,
     “The Star Dreamer” of all,
Suggested they conclude the day
     With “The Filligree Ball”.
“None But the Brave” “The Better Course”
     Went home “The Better Way”;
And even “The Vulgarians”
     Find “Happiness” today.
