Come Home

Father, dear father, come home with me now
     You’re needed far more than you know;
The day is fast fading, and supper time near,
     Come home with me pa, when I go.
The fire is all out, the house is all dark,
     There’s no one but me to take hold,
Come home with me father, don’t stick to your job,
     Come home for I’m hungry and cold.

Father, dear father, don’t linger, I pray,
     I know you would rather not go.
But someone has got to get supper and put
     All the children to bed in a row.
For mother has went out for bargains today
     And then was to stop at the club,
And we will be starved unless you come home
     And help us to manage the grub.
