Can’t they let the Mann alone,

     Why such acts infernal?

Why forever persecute

     This old doughty Colonal?

If he’s made the smart set smart

     He is simply smarter;

“Takes a rogue to catch a rogue”

     And a tart a tarter.

Don’t you fear ‘em, Col. Mann,

     Of they volley, answer;

Give ‘em good as e’er you can,

     Fight and be a Mann, sir.

Hit ‘em with your great big stick,

     Rake ‘em in “Town Topics”;

If that doesn’t make ‘em sick

     Roast ‘em in “Town Topics”.
