I like peanuts an’ sweet pertaters
Best uv any production uv nature;
Sweet ‘taters a peck an’ peanuts a quart,
If ‘twasn’t for both my life would be short.
What kin’ uv sircus to me would it be
If peanuts warn’t constantly goin’ in me;
The snappin’ uv shucks is music, I vum,
An’ softens the discords uv life’s dreary hum.
The scent uv pertaters pervadin’ the room
Is sweeter to me than any perfume.
Sweet taters for food but peanuts! yum, yum;
They answer me best for terbacker an’ rum.
If ever I’m lost an’ kennot be found,
Jes’ foller the shucks thet scatter the ground.
O, taters a peck an’ peanuts a quart;
If ‘twasn’t for both my life would be short.
