I cannot write music

     The same as do you;

Nor sing it nor play it

     As others do.

But I can write verses

     Which sometimes ring true;

So here’s a weak sample,

     Fair maiden, to you,

With wishes and greetings

     And thoughts not a few,

From Saybrook, Old Saybrook,

     To Miss., Tougaloo!
