Your
name is Jo, and so is mine,
Jo and Joe;
What
is the reason, what the sign?
I would know.
Did
it come through divine intent?
Or
was it merely accident?
But
all in all we’re well content,
Sweetheart Jo.
The
thought had never come to me,
Long ago,
My
sweetheart’s name and mine would be
“Jo and Joe”.
Oh,
no; all through my boyhood sweet,
I
dreamed of names like Marguerite,
Or
some great title obsolete,
Never Jo.
But
what of names when love h stirred
One’s heart so?
I
loved you ere your name I heard,
Or could know.
And
when I learned your heart was mine,
And
kissed the first, your lips of wine,
The
name you bore seemed most divine,
Simply Jo!
Your
name is Jo and so is mine,
Happy so;
And
what the reason, what the sign,
Can we know?
And
is it of divine intent,
Or
is it merely accident?
But
all in all, we’re well content,
Jo and Joe.
